By the time Kerr came on the scene, the game was very popular. Everyone was playing, not just the aristocracy. The club at Dirleton Castle was founded in 1854 by 'shopkeepers, working men and artisans'. Impression 250 copies, this is #170 and signed on the limitation page by the author. Included with this book is a provenance book with the list of the owners of all 250 copies. This book is #170 and belongs to Lorne Rubenstein, the well-known golf writer. The book has some wear but in good condition and the spine is all intact.
