Marquetry is the art of inlaying different woods and other natural materials to create a picture. It has been around for thousands of years. Making this beautiful picture is a long and tedious process. Each piece has to be cut with the utmost attention to detail. Then they have to be assembled, re-cut and so on. Each image contains up to 20 types of wood in hundreds, if not thousands, of various shapes, sizes, and colors, which will form a composite image resembling a rich, three-dimensional oil painting.
